Fungal ToeNail Treatment
A fungal nail infection can make the affected nail discoloured thickened and brittle.
The infection often starts at the nail edge and spreads to the middle of the nail, making the nail discoloured and sometimes thicker in parts.
When the nail becomes brittle pieces can break off which can lead to the whole nail lifting off. This can cause pain and swelling in the skin around the nail.
A Full treatment appointment with one of our experts will allow us to assess and diagnose fungal nail and recommend any further treatment that you may need.
Fungus Testing
Wickersley foot clinic are pleased to be able to offer you a fast and accurate test to confirm the presences of fungus in your nail. We no longer need to rely on tests that grow fungal spore which are often slow to carry out. We advocate the use of testing in all cases of suspected fungal infection. As the test results will be available during your appointment you can commence on your personal treatment protocol immediately. *Please note that there is a charge for this test.
Lacuna Fungal Nail procedure
This treatment uses micro penetration (fenestration) to enable the foot health clinician to make micro pathways through a fungal nail in order to provide access to the nail bed for medication. It is entirely safe with virtually no pain or risk to the patient.
Personalised Toenail Treatment
Unsightly damaged nails? We can now reconstruct and remodel your nails at Wickersley Foot Clinic using a safe and effective UV Gel treatment. Toenail reconstruction is a procedure that aims to rebuild a damaged nail. Damage can occur as a result of trauma, fungal infection, or other medical problems.
Our experts use a gel system designed specifically for toe nails. Wilde Pedique is an ultraviolet cured polymer resin, and is the perfect solution to fungal, weak, discoloured or dystrophic nails, with results that can last up to a few months.
Wilde Pedique is a world renowned means of restoring nails partially or completely and because of the elastic properties of the light cured resin, the nail plate feels completely natural.
**Please contact us directly to discuss your suitability for nail reconstruction. This is not a permanent solution and length of time the reconstructed nail lasts is dependant on various factors which will be discussed in your appointment.**
Verruca
A verruca is a plantar wart that is most frequently found on the soles of the feet or in the toe area. They are most common in but are not limited to children and young adults and can be passed on simply by walking barefoot across the same surface as someone with a verruca. The virus that causes a verruca is harmless with the only issue being when the wart itself begins causing pain or discomfort. This typically only occurs when the verruca is located on a weight bearing area of the foot, but many people opt for verruca removal regardless of this to eliminate the chance of growth or spread and because they can be unsightly.
Treatment of reducing the verruca to eliminate weight bearing pain is offered at Wickersley Foot Clinic when booked under a full treatment appointment and a personal treatment plan will be recommended.
Corns what are they ?
A corn is an often painful, cone-shaped, inwardly directed callus of dead skin that forms at a pressure point near a bone, or on a weight-bearing part of the body. When on the feet, corns can be so painful as to interfere with walking.
At Wickersley Foot Clinic our experts are able to remove corns painlessly, apply padding to relieve pressure for long-term relief.
Cracked Heels and callus
Our feet can develop patches of thick, dead skin called calluses. Calluses are especially common on the heels, because they take a lot of pressure as we walk. That pressure, combined with older skin that’s often thin and dry, makes us susceptible to a common and potentially debilitating condition called cracked heels.
At Wickersley Foot Clinic our clinicians are trained to removing and maintaining callus areas of the foot. We can also aid in helping relief from cracked heels
